Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 22, 2026
YouShouldLeave ("YSL", "we", "the app") is made by an independent developer based in Calgary, Canada. This page explains what data the app collects, why, and what it never does with it.
The short version
- There's no account, no email, and no password required to use YSL.
- We never sell your data or share it with advertisers.
- Location data is used only to time your departure and is not retained after the trip ends.
What we collect
A device identifier. On first launch, YSL generates a random identifier stored securely in your device's Keychain. It isn't tied to your name, email, or Apple ID, and it exists only to route notifications to your device.
Location. When you set a departure reminder, YSL uses your device's location to calculate live travel time to your destination. This happens through Apple's location services and Google's Directions API. Location is processed to trigger your countdown and is not stored beyond what's needed to run that reminder.
Destination search. Addresses you search for are sent to Google Places to return autocomplete suggestions, governed by Google's own privacy terms.
Notification delivery. Your device's push token is stored against your anonymous identifier in our backend (Supabase) so we can trigger your lock screen countdown at the right moment.
Purchases. If you subscribe, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit and tied to your Apple ID — YSL never sees your payment details.
If you sign in with Google
Certain features may offer optional sign-in with your Google Account. If you choose to use it, we request only your basic profile information (name, email address, profile photo) to identify your session — never your Google Drive, Gmail, or Calendar contents. You can revoke this access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent, or trade your data to third parties.
- We don't build advertising profiles.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites.
Data retention & deletion
Reminder history and preferences are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app removes this data. Backend records tied to your anonymous identifier (push token mappings) can be deleted on request — contact us using the details below.
Children
YSL is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
